June "Fudge" Ushiyama passed away peacefully on January 15, 2016 at the age of 86. An L.A. born Nisei, she lived her entire life in Los Angeles except for internment at Rohwer, Ark. Her career as a teacher spanned 43 years in the LAUSD and she received an achievement award for her service. In 1958, she married Dr. Takao Ushiyama. Together they kept busy with family life, travel, skiing, and fishing trips until he pre-deceased her in 1997. With a passion for learning and a sense of adventure, her travels took her throughout most of the world. She was active and interested, enjoyed her many friendships, and helped others whenever she could. Her cheerful optimism will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by sons Randall Ushiyama, Garrett (Diana) Ushiyama, daughter Cindy Ushiyama (Robert Hanson), grandchildren Nicholas and Alexandra, and many other relatives. Funeral services will be held on Saturday Jan 30, 2016 at 10:30 am at West LA United Methodist Church, 1913 Purdue Ave, L.A., 90025. (No Koden please).
