Josephine Yoshiko Shiraiwa, 89, a long time resident of Porter Ranch CA passed away on December 27, 2023 surrounded by beloved family. Josephine was born in Eureka Utah on March 30, 1934 to Jinzaburo Matsumiya and Chiyo Ogino from Fukui Japan.

She graduated from Granite High school in Salt Lake City Utah and then got her bachelors degree in nutrition from the University of Utah. After graduation she interned at the Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. It was in 1957 she met David Shiraiwa, married and moved to Los Angeles, CA where they raised three beautiful boys, Craig, Todd and Scott.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, son Craig, her sisters Jeannie Konishi, Fumiko Kida, Fusae Nakanishi and brother Kay Matsumiya.  She is survived by her husband, David, sons Todd (wife Christina), Scott and also the proud grandmother of grandson Devin.

The Shiraiwa family would like to express their thanks for your condolences and many heartwarming memories.

A private Funeral service was held at the Fukui Mortuary on January 20, 2024, Rev. Clifford Ishigaki officiating.
