Obituary

Surrounded by family, Joji Tani passed away on November 24, 2017 in San Diego, CA at the age of 94. Born in San Pedro CA on December 25, 1922, He was the third child of Dentaro and Yuwae Tani.  His late siblings were Tetsuo, Kazumi, Toshiro and Masao.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, he is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Hideko; daughters, Miki (Jim) Aeling , Patti Tani (Ron Bowditch), Nancy (Tom) Cochran, and Joyce (Neal) Waner; and grandchildren, Matt and Sarah Aeling, Brian and Kevin Bowditch, Lauren And Glenn Cochran, and Jocelyn, Tyler and Emily Waner. He was predeceased by wife, Marian Kimiyo, and daughter, Merri Jo.

Joji spent his first 19 years growing up in the idyllic San Pedro fishing community known as Terminal Island until his family was evacuated and relocated to internment camps during World War II. He resided in Pico Rivera for 50 years.

A service is scheduled for December 16, 2017 at the Plymouth Congregational Church,
12058 Beverly Blvd, Whittier at 11 a.m.
