Joan Tanigawa, 87, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026. Joan was born on Kapaa, Kauai on November 24, 1938. She carried the warmth, beauty, and gracious spirit of the islands with her throughout her entire life.

Known for her deep kindness, selfless nature, and quick, joyous sense of humor, Joan brought endless light and laughter to everyone around her. She had a rare gift for putting others first and making everyone feel truly cared for. One of her absolute greatest joys in life was cooking. Her kitchen was always the heart of the home, filled with wonderful meals, comforting aromas, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; her beloved daughter, Jill (Serapio); and her deeply cherished grandson, Jayden. Her legacy of laughter, generosity, and home-cooked warmth will live on forever through her family and all the lives she touched.
