Funeral services for the late Mrs. Joan Kumeko Nakashima, a California-born Nisei resident of Los Angeles and former internee of Rohwer Relocation Camp during WWII who passed away on January 22, 2014, were held privately at Tenrikyo Southern California Church.

Mrs. Nakashima was predeceased by her parents, Einosuke and Fusa Akiyama, and her siblings, Yuko and George Akiyama. Beloved mother, devoted daughter, caring sister, life-long reader, late-blooming sports fan. She'll be remembered always by her son Ken, daughter Julie, and sister, Barbara Akiyama. Also survived by many other relatives.
