Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Jim J. Tokushige peacefully passed away on January 16, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. Born on December 7, 1919 in Salinas, Jim was the third child of Kitchitaro and Ume Tokushige.
Jim proudly served his country during WWII as a member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. He received several medals, including two bronze stars and the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his brother Vic (Peggy) Tokushige, son Glenn (Julie), daughter Joanne, grandchildren Karri (Larry) Kane, Jason (Fonda) Tokushige, Jeremy Tokushige, Erika (Shane) Keady, Crystal Tokushige, Christopher Harris, Patrick Harris, Wade Tokushige and great-granddaughters Kayleah & Brooke Tokushige. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 35 years Suzie, brothers Yo and Ted and sister Dorothy Tokushige.
Grandpa was loved by many and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Rev. Cliff Ishigaki will preside over public memorial services on Saturday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Garden under the direction of Fukui Mortuary, 707 East Temple Street, Los Angeles. Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A public celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. at Vessia Restaurant in Irvine.
