Jim Itaru Kai, a 91-year-old California-born, Nisei resident of Torrance and former internee of Jerome and Tule Lake Relocation camps during WWII passed away on May 9, 2016. Services were held privately at Green Hills Memorial Park.


Mr. Kai was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years, Betty Kai. He is survived by his children Cheryl Hing, Geoffrey Kai, Donna (Tom) Matsudaira and Stuart Kai; grandchildren, Kristin Hing, Kaitlyn, Kameron and Lauren Kai and Bryce Matsudaira. Also survived by many other family members.
