Janice Tayoko Hamamoto, 89 year-old Hawaii-born resident of Gardena peacefully passed away on March 12, 2023.  Janice was born in Honolulu Hawaii on March 27, 1933.  She was the third daughter born to Thomas (Kikuta) Matsumoto and Pearl Matsumoto.  Janice grew up with her five sisters, Helen, Patsy, Jennette, Patricia and Marilyn and married her husband Dennis on July 25, 1953 at the age of 20.  She had four children, Michael, Patrick, Vincent and Denise.  Each year, Janice prepared a feast to celebrated New Years Day with relatives and friends.  Some of her more popular dishes over the years were the Orange-Lemon Chiffon pies or her larger-than-life Pasties.  Janice loved to read books, cook, knit, play slot machines, and go camping with friends and family.  She will be truly missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis who passed away in 2014.  She is survived by her loving family; sons Michael (Ida) Hamamoto, Patrick (Kathleen Harrigan) Hamamoto, Vincent (Etsuko) Hamamoto, and daughter Denise (Wayne) Kawafuchi, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was held at Rose Hills Memorial Park.  Father Doan Hoang from St. Francis Xavier Chapel "Maryknoll" officiating.
