James Nakamura, 88, passed away on August 21, 2013.
He passed peacefully with family at his bedside.
Jim was born in Los Angeles on May 14, 1925.
He has resided and farmed in Ventura County for over 60 years.
He grew various row crops, but will be best known for growing strawberries.
With son, Gary and grandson, Jeff, they are 3 generations of strawberry farmers in the Oxnard area.
In 1993, Jim received the Japan Agricultural Society's Achievement Medal.
His hobbies included golf and photography but Jim will be remembered most for his generosity and friendship.
A devoted family man, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Tsuyako, son Gary (wife Sue) and daughter Linda,
granddaughters Lisa and Lindsay, grandsons Jeff (wife Erika) and Jaime, great granddaughters Kaylee and Kristy and great grandson, Jeffrey.
Also survived by sisters, Mary (husband Ray) Nagao of Oxnard, Joyce Takeguma of Oxnard, Tamiko Lowe of Los Angeles, sister-in-law, Shizuko Nakamura of Oxnard and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at 10 AM at the Oxnard Buddhist Temple, 250 So. H Street, Oxnard.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Oxnard Buddhist Temple and Fukui Mortuary, Los Angeles.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Oxnard Buddhist Temple or your favorite charity.
