MR. HIDETAKA NISHIYAMA, 80, Tokyo born Issei, resident of Los Angeles, passed away peacefully on November 7th, at LAC-USC Medical Center.
As President and Chairman of the International Traditional Karate Federation (ITKF), he dedicated his life to the development of others through the martial art of Traditional Karate based on the Japanese principles of Budo. In 2000, Mr. Nishiyama was honored by the Emperor of Japan who presented him with the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette on the grounds of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 30th, at 5:00PM at Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 815 E. 1st St., Los Angeles. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Details for donation information will be posted shortly on www.itkf.org.
He is survived by his wife, Yohko Nishiyama; daughters, Yumi Nishiyama of New York, Amy and Nami Nishiyama; sisters, Sumie Momose and Michiko Ijima of Japan; nieces Hiromi (Eddie) Gonzalez and Miwako Ijima.
