Hideo Kurakusu

April 7, 1927 – February 18, 2025

Hideo Kurakusu, beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the age of 97.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Hideo was raised by his father and mother, Zenpachi and Fuji Kurakusu along with sisters Meiko Kurakusu and Teruko Mimura. During World War II, Hideo and his family were relocated to Santa Anita Racetrack, then Gila River Interment Center.  He served in the U.S. Army and later returned to Los Angeles.  He married Tsuyako in 1961 and enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, and taking computer classes.

He is survived by his wife, Tsuyako, children, Amy Kurakusu and Anne (Steven) Honda, grandchildren, Wesley and Claire Honda, as well as relatives here and in Japan.

A private service was held on April 2, 2025.
