January 9, 1931 – February 22, 2017
Helen Chizuru Imamura, an 86-year-old California-born Nisei resident of Silverlake and former internee of Gila River Relocation Camp passed away peacefully on February 22, 2017. Beloved mother of Kevin Yoshito Imamura, Chris Keiji (Pauline) Imamura of CO and Diane Mari (Todd) Hara of VA; grandmother of Kristin Yuki and Nick Yoshito Imamura, Julia Kiyomi and Christina Keiko Hara both of VA. Also survived by many other relatives.
Born Helen Chizuru Kitahata on January 9, 1931, Helen married Michito Imamura in May of 1955 and enjoyed raising her children and grandchildren, and spending time with her large circle of family and friends. Served as an office manager for the LAUSD for 25 years and blessed many with her joy and laughter. She was beloved dearly and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 10:00 AM JACCC Garden Conference Room, 244 S. San Pedro St., Los Angeles, CA 90012, officiated by Rev. Clifford Ishigaki. Validated parking will be available at Joes Parking Lot 350 E 2nd St, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
