Obituary

Haru "Rose" Yamasaki

(March 21, 1925 – February 9, 2018)

After suffering from a large stroke 8-months ago, Haru passed away and at age 92 joined her husband Tsuneo Yamasaki and son, Anthony Hiroshi Yamasaki, on February 9, 2018.

She was born in and spent most of her life in Los Angeles, CA.  She was interned at Jerome Relocation Center (Block 16) and after the war she trained at the Colorado Nurses Training School in Colorado.  In 1950 she got married and moved to San Diego while Tony was fishing. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1957 and remained there until her passing. She lived a full, happy, and active life with a large circle of friends and family.  We will miss her kindness, generosity, adventurer's spirit, holiday turkey and little "treats".

She is survived by her sons, Robert Minoru (April) & Dale Kazuo (Michelle) Yamasaki; daughter, Celia Sachi (William) Adams; amazing grandchildren; Sheri Minako (Steven Kim), Lindsey Nicole, and Kai Noa Yamasaki; energetic great-grandson, "Master" Tyler Kim; younger brother, Hideo Machikawa; sisters-in-law, Sue Miyazaki & Lillian Yurie Yamasaki; and numerous other family members and friends.

Haru is predeceased by her brother, Fred Shoichi Miyazaki; sister, Yoshiko Hieshima; sister-in-law, Yoriko Machikawa and brother-in-law, Asaichi Hieshima.

Her Celebration of Life Service was held in the "Chapel in the Garden" at Fukui Mortuary on Saturday, March 3, 2018.

Her ashes will be interred at a private ceremony on what would have been her 93 rd birthday at Evergreen cemetery.
