Obituary

George Satoru Tagawa passed away on January 27, 2021 at his place of residence in Monterey Park, California.  He was 91 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jane Hatsue Tagawa, his nieces Linda (Stephen) Sueyoshi, Susan Tomoko Vasquez, and nephew, Koji (Fujie) Terasawa and many other relatives.

George was born on October 29, 1929, in Bell, California to Masato and Sasayo (Nomura) Tagawa. He was the second youngest of eight children and the last of the siblings to pass. His parents both passed away while he was still very young. Uncle George was raised in Hiroshima Japan and returned to California when he was older. He first worked at a nursery and then began his career working as a Ralphs Market produce manager for over 40 years before retiring. He had many hobbies which included traveling around the globe with his wife, watching Japanese Sumo Wrestling, deep sea and shore fishing. One of his favorite pastimes was to go to San Manuel Indian Casino for a little slot action with his wife. He also loved taking his friends and relatives to many fun places.

Uncle George was very fond of fishing. Whenever you saw him, he seemed to always have fishing poles in the back of his station wagon.  He would always be bringing everyone fresh fruit and vegetables whenever he visited anyone and say, "I picked the best ones for you!"

He also enjoyed watching Dodger baseball games and eating delicious Japanese foods.

We will always remember his smiling face, his sense of humor, and the many memories he created for all of us. We all miss him dearly, but know that he remains in our hearts forever.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for all the condolences and support we have received from everyone.

Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, a virtual service will be held at a later date. Please check later on this Fukui webpage for an update.
