Obituary

George Sakurai , 89, resident of Chino Hills, CA passed away February 10th.

George enjoyed playing golf with his two sons and had the opportunity of playing at Pebble Beach. He enjoyed drinking Budweiser and watching his Japanese programs with his sister and brother-in-law.  He was a great cook and made that his profession.  George was born February 22, 1931 in Hawaii, then moved with his family to Japan at a young age. He returned to California and served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959.  He always made the best meals for family gatherings with prime rib being his specialty.  He loved the time he spent with his family playing poker, watching TV, talking, laughing, and picking up his grandchildren from school.

George is survived by his two sons, Steve (Ana) Sakurai and Mervin (Sandi) Sakurai, his grandchildren Brandon and Emi, his brother Yoji (Yoko) sister Kimiko, many nieces and nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandson.

George will always be remembered for his patience, generosity, humbleness, love, kindness, laugh and caring for others. His sons and Brandon and Emi were the pride and joy of his life.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 4:00PM at Evergreen Baptist Church San Gabriel Valley, 323 Workman Mill Rd, La Puente, CA 91746
