George Yuzuru Kosaka was born in Garden Grove to parents Katsuji and Yoshino.
George passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on March 11, 2017. A widower, George is survived by his sister, Lily "Yudi"; nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends Lidia, Bridget, and Claudia.
During World War II, George, his parents, and six brothers and sisters, were interned at Poston Internment Camp in Arizona. George was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, having joined as an army clerk, he served proudly in Germany. Along with his family, George owned and worked at a café in Los Angeles, where he cooked, served, and washed dishes. He spent most of his life as a driver for a meat company, retiring after many years of service.
George had a passion for classic cars, was an avid dog and bird lover, enjoyed gardening, and taking walks. He was kind, compassionate and loving, a great listener who gave sound advice. George was extremely independent, intelligent and dedicated to his home and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 17, at 11:00 AM at Fukui Mortuary, Chapel in the Garden, 707 E. Temple St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. Interment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
