September 6, l943 – September 5, 2011

Gary passed away peacefully at home on September 5th after a valiant battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving A-Team: Lisa, Shon, and Auntie Janis. A celebration of Gary's amazing life will be held on Saturday, October 1st, 11:00 a.m., at Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 S. Central Ave., LA 90013. Valet service will be provided at the church site to address any parking overflow.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Lisa Nozawa (Shon Kanemori), father, Fred Nozawa, and sister Janis (David) Hiura and many devoted relatives, friends, and students. He was the best father, husband, son, brother, relative, friend and teacher. Mr. Nozawa "taught" us all so much. His lessons, stories, and sayings will live on forever. He was awarded the Jaime Escalante Mathematics Teacher Award in 1991, but his greatest award or reward was his daughter Lisa. Gary, we know you are with Mona, happy, healthy, telling hysterical stories and jokes and making everyone roar with laughter. You are loved!
