Fumy L. Machida, age 91, business manager and widow of plastic and reconstructive surgeon and World War II veteran Roy C. Machida peacefully passed away August 8, 2017.

She is survived by daughters Sharon (Dan) Okada of Sacramento, Kiyo (Douglas) Woodruff of Kyoto, Japan, Debra Machida of Northridge, and Linda (Geoff) Grundy of Pasadena; her grandchildren Erin, Anny and Gregory Okada, and Esme and Royce Grundy; sisters Kathy Sasaki and Mary Kitahara, brothers Ben and Roy Ebihara, and a host of family and friends who will dearly miss her.

She was born in Clovis, New Mexico on March 14, 1926, the 6 ^th of the 11 children of Shiro and Fuji (Kobayashi) Ebihara. After Pearl Harbor, her dad lost his job as a machinist for the Santa Fe Railroad, and she and her family were sent to Topaz Incarceration Camp in Utah until they could relocate to Cleveland, Ohio in 1943. There she met Roy Machida, whose family had also just relocated to Cleveland, on a blind date and they were married after he returned from serving in G Company of the 442 ^nd Regimental Combat Team. She was predeceased by her parents, and siblings Yaeko, Rokuo, Shoji, Hank (Hiroshi) and Emiko (Amy).

Fumy will be remembered for her humor, generosity, outspoken views, artistic ventures into photography and ceramics, as well as decades of polling place volunteer work at Kenter Canyon School.
