Private funeral services for the late Fumio J. Okamuro were held on Monday, December 1 at Fukui Mortuary "Chapel in the Garden" with Reverends John and Ruy Mizuki officiating. He was 87 years old. He passed away November 23, his wife of 60 years, Florence, was at his side. Fumio was born in Glendale, CA. In 1943, he volunteered for the U.S. Army where he served in the 442 Regimental Combat Team, 522 Charlie Battery, Field Artillery Battalion in Europe. After the war he returned to Glendale and built and directed the machine shop for Phil Weiand of Weiand's Automotive Industries where he worked until he retired in 1996. He loved fishing, dancing and travel – fishing most of all. He was a member of VFW Post 9902.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Florence Okamuro; sons, Jack (Diane), Robert (Julia), and Douglas (Alessandra) Okamuro; grandchildren Courtney Shararian (Chris), Lynne, Lillian, Brittany, Nicole, Kyle and Luke; great-grandson Michael Shararian; brother, Jim (Mary) Okamuro; brother-in-law, John Okamoto and many other relatives.
