Fumiko Okubo, born in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan, passed away peacefully in Cypress, California on October 1, 2019. She is reunited with her husband, George, in the loving embrace of our Lord Jesus Christ. She is survived by her three children Benjamin (Barbara), June (Bill-deceased) Leark, Annie (Max-deceased) Cornell, sister Nobuko Nobe, and sister-in law Mariko Stricklin and Hisako (Bill) Nelson. Also survived by other relatives here and in Japan. Fumiko married George on December 15, 1950 and enjoyed a life filled with God's blessing until George entered heaven on August 18, 2012. The three children and spouses continued to support Fumiko, along with her many church friends until she passed. Fumiko was born Yamabuki-cho, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan on January 8, 1930 to Shikanosuke and Kiku Iwai. She met her future husband while working as a clerk/typist for the Occupation forces after World War II. She later married George and left Japan on March 6, 1951.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Orange County Christian Church, 4872 Bishop Street, Cypress, California.
Grave site burial will be the following Monday, October 21, 2019,10:00a.m. at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier in the Cherry Blossom Section. Family is requesting casual attire.
