Fumiko Hamayasu passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 99. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona on December 16, 1926, to Isami and Rin Asano. She was the youngest of six children. Fumi was preceded in death by her husband, George Hamayasu, in 1981, and lived a quiet independent life during most of her widowed years with her beloved dogs. Pochi, Sachi and Sayuri. She enjoyed cultivating orchids and making Bunka embroidery art. She is survived by her son, Eugene (Chris) Hamayasu; four daughters, Michi (Sam) Song, Kathleen (Eric) Fujita, Shirley (Dennis) Seyfer, and Debbie Toshimitsu; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sister, Aki Tsunoda; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A private family graveside service was held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
