MATSUURA, FRANK TOKIO, age 88, passed away on July 13, 2010. Private funeral services were held on Thursday, July 22 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Los Angeles, California.
Frank was born and raised in Los Angeles; he was a proud member of Koyasan Boy Scout Troop 379 and attended Los Angeles City College, UCLA and University of Cincinnati before enlisting in the US Army and enrolling in the MIS language school at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. After serving in the Military Intelligence Service with the occupation forces in Japan and earning a BS degree from Sophia University, Frank relocated his family to New York City in 1958 to pursue a career in marketing with YK lines and Marubeni Trading Company. Frank retired from Tekmatex in Charlotte, NC in 1987 and moved back to his native Los Angeles.
Frank is predeceased by his brother, George Matsuura. He is survived by his loving wife, Nobuko Mishina Matsuura; daughter Kathleen N. Matsuura Johnson; grandchildren, Kara Nobuko, Connor William and Tanner Campbell Johnson; brother, Tom Matsuura; and nieces and nephews both here and in Japan.
