Frank Shigeru

Private family services for the late Frank Shigeru Kurihara, nisei born, 84-year-old, Central Valley, CA born, resident of San Francisco, who passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, were held at Fukui Mortuary on October 27th, with Reverend Dr. Richard Kuyama officiating.
At age 3, Frank and his family were interned by the US government under order Executive Order 9066, detaining and exiling all Japanese and Japanese Americans to camps run by the War Relocation Authority. Frank's family was moved to Poston, Arizona, on the Colorado River Indian reservation. After leaving Poston, the family would resume their lives in California's Central Valley, where he would live a majority of the rest of his life.
At age 20, Frank would go on to serve in the 54th engineer battalion, 130th Engineer brigade, a specific branch of the US Army serving in Germany. Frank worked as an electric engineer for Pacific Gas and Electric for 35 years.
Frank was a dedicated son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, coach and mentor who loved sports, especially his Dodgers (go Dodgers!) and Lakers. He is survived by his loving family who will miss his kindness and gentle spirit for all of their days; sons, Larry, Stephen, David Kurihara; daughter, Leslee Kurihara; grandchildren, Lawrence Jr., Dominic, Chloe, Riley, Eli, Logan, and Gianna; great-grandchildren, Mika; sister, Shirley Kurihara; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
