FRANK SHOZO BABA
Memorial services for the late Frank Shozo Baba, 93 year old Oakland, CA born Nisei resident of Pasadena who passed away from natural causes on January 16 will be held on Saturday, January 26, 1:00 PM at the Japanese American National Museum, 369 E. First Street, Los Angeles, under the direction of Fukui Mortuary. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles.
Burial Services will be held on Monday, January 28, 11:00 AM at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes.
Well known in Japan as a key figure in the establishment of modern broadcasting in post World War II Japan, his distinguished career included service at the United States Information Agency Voice of America, the American Embassy in Tokyo and the USIA Foreign Press Center. He was awarded the Kun Santo, the Third Order of the Sacred Treasure from the Emperor of Japan for his contributions in promoting relations between the United States and Japan.
He is survived by his wife, Fumiye Baba; children, Spencer Baba, Carolyn Sillman and Susan Yamamoto; grandchildren, Alexander Sillman, Allison Tedesco, Brent and Joy Yamamoto. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
