Emiko Uyeda (née Maruki), aged 95, experienced a stroke on July 31st, 2017 and died peacefully in her sleep on August 11th, 2017. She was born on August 17, 1921 and raised in California by her parents, Isako Senda Kita and Yukio Kita.

Emi is known for her youthful appearance throughout the years, often being mistaken as a sister rather than a mother when out with her daughters.

Emi was preceded in death by her husband George Uyeda and her sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Ed Fukuda. She is survived by her three daughters: Louann Uyeda, Suzy Charbonneau, Rae and son in law Norman Okubo. She will be remembered by her grandchildren Miko Charbonneau, Wayne Okubo, Wende & Jeff Miyamoto. Her great grandchildren Colin & Ryan Miyamoto, Justin & Jaren Okubo, and other close relatives.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 5:00PM at the Venice Buddhist Temple, 12371 Braddock Dr., Culver City, CA.
