Private funeral services for the late Elwood Maxwell Hayashi, a 78 year-old, Marysville, California-born, Kibei-Nisei resident of Torrance who passed away on December 15, were held at Fukui Mortuary "Chapel in the Garden", officiated by Rev. John Iwohara of Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Mr. Hayashi was preceded in death in 2003 by his beloved wife Yukiko Hayashi. Beloved father of Eileen (Lynne) Cabus, Ellen (Keith) Komatsu, Carol (Louie) Cervantes, and Frankie (Kurtis) Kobayashi; grandfather of Ali, Eric, Andie, Selina, Emi, and Emily; brother of Harry Hayashi. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives here and in Japan.

Mr. Hayashi served overseas in the USMC during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged he started his family-run business, Elwood Nursery. He will be missed dearly by his friends and family.
