Ellen Kurihara, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, passed away June 13, 2021 at age 94.

Ellen was born Ellen Naganuma to the late Paul and Sai Naganuma in Lihue, Hawaii on the island of Kauai. She attended Kauai High School and pursued a career in business in Chicago, Illinois. In Chicago, she met and married her husband, Toshimi Kurihara. Not long after Toshimi and Ellen moved to Los Angeles and had a daughter, Dawn and son, Jon.

Ellen enjoyed making crafts and sewing as well as working in her garden. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, David and Karin. After retiring from her job as an Administrative Assistant, Ellen enjoyed traveling all over the world with her husband.

Ellen is survived by her children, Dawn and Jon, son-in-law, Bryant, daughter-in-law, Janice, grandchildren, David and Karin, and great-grandchild, Davy. There will be a private ceremony for Ellen at the National Cemetery of the Pacific on January 27, 2022.
