Edwin Tsutomu Teruya

June 25, 1938-January 21, 2026

We mourn the passing of Edwin Tsutomu Teruya, in Los Angeles, CA. Edwin was dedicated to the family, and will be remembered for his love of gardening and playing the ukulele.

He was born in Honolulu, HI, to Kame and Saburo Teruya and raised as the youngest of 5 siblings. Edwin graduated from the Iolani School, Honolulu, HI in 1956, then the University of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in Engineering Physics in 1963. He was honorably discharged from the US Army and raised his family in Torrance, CA. He dedicated over 38 years as an aerospace engineer and in management at the Northrop Corporation.

Edwin was pre-deceased by spouse Kay Nishimoto. He is survived by sister Alice Arakaki, children Scott Satoshi Teruya, Joann Chiemi Teruya, Leslie Keiko Acard, former spouse Alice Teruya, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private services were held at Fukui Mortuary on March 1, 2026.
