Duane Haruki Koba passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Campbell, California while on a trip to visit a relative and friends.
Born October 30, 1947, in San Diego, California, son of Haruki "Jack" and Michiko Koba. Before being drafted in the army, he worked in his family business (Oriental Food Market) in San Diego. Duane served in the Vietnam war and upon his return used his GI Bill to attend computer school ultimately leading to a job in Los Angeles.
For Duane, family was a central part of his life and he enjoyed spending time with loved ones. Duane is survived by his beloved wife Sheila, son Darren (Julie), daughter Alyssa, sister Ann (Mike), granddaughter Leia, brother-in-law Stanley and many other relatives.
Duane enjoyed activities and trips with family and friends such as going to concerts, vacations to Hawaii, taking cruises, and going to the Indian Casino with Sheila. In June 2025, he was able to enjoy his first trip to Japan with his family and reconnected with relatives that still live in Japan.
A Celebration of Life for Duane will take place on Saturday June 6th, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Orange County Buddhist Church Social Hall (909 S. Dale Ave, Anaheim, CA 92804).
