Obituary

Donna Kikuchi, 61, passed away in Newport Beach on October 24, 2024, after a two-year battle with breast cancer. A devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Donna was a true-blue fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Born on July 24, 1963, in Gardena, Donna attended California State University, Long Beach for her undergraduate studies and earned two master's degrees from Loyola Marymount. She served as a school psychologist for over 35 years, primarily at Wilson High School and other campuses of the Long Beach Unified School District.

She married Marty Hernandez in 1989 and welcomed two daughters — Marissa in 1992 and Alana in 1999. She lovingly anticipated the arrival of her first grandchild, Mason, in 2024.

Donna's empathy, kindness, generosity and incredible work ethic were felt far and wide — by her colleagues, friends, neighbors and, of course, her family. She will always be remembered for her big smile, hearty laugh and jubilant cheers for the Dodgers.

Donna was preceded in death by her sister Nancy and her father Yasuo Kikuchi. She is survived by her husband Marty; daughters Marissa (Matt) Consalvi and Alana (Blake) Hernandez; grandson Mason; mother May Kikuchi; sister June (Lonnie) Akers; nieces Janna, Nikki, Kaleah and Kiki; and nephews Jake and Kai. Extended family members include mother-in-law Cecile "Sunny" Hernandez; brother-in-law Albert (Irene) Hernandez; aunt Chiyoko Kinomoto; uncle Michael (Sachiko) Kinomoto; and cousins Don (Grace), Steven (Lisa), Stephanie and Michelle Kinomoto. She also leaves behind hundreds of friends.

A private memorial service will be held in January 2025.
