Clarence Katsuji Ohara, 84, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in Cerritos, California.

Born on September 25, 1941, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Clarence lived a life marked by dedication to his profession, love for his family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Clarence pursued higher education with determination and purpose. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawaii and went on to complete a master’s degree in Environmental Science. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a long and impactful career.

For 37 years, Clarence worked at Caltrans, where he contributed significantly to the development and maintenance of California’s infrastructure. His commitment to excellence and public service left a lasting mark on the communities he served throughout his distinguished career.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Clarence found great joy in his personal life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Ohara and their daughter, Christine Ohara, along with other family in Hawaii, California and Tennessee. His family was a source of pride and happiness throughout his life.

In retirement, Clarence embraced his passions with enthusiasm. He spent countless hours playing with his dogs as well as reading hundreds of books. He went on fishing trips that brought him peace and reflection, spent numerous hours tending to his garden with care and patience, and traveled to new places that enriched his perspective and brought him closer to the world around him.

Clarence’s legacy is one of quiet strength, steady dedication and heartfelt connection. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
