Chizuko Furukawa, 86 year-old resident of West Los Angeles, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025.  Chizuko was born and raised in Takanabe, Japan as the eldest of 4 children, and graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo. A lifelong lover of music, she taught piano professionally and served as the longtime director of the Mori-no-Kai Chorus. God blessed her with a gifted voice, and she loved to sing praise at many Japanese Christian churches throughout Southern California through the decades.

Chizuko was preceded in death by her husband Yasuharu and is survived by son Shin (Lange), daughter Nozomi (Matthew), grandchildren Ethan, Grace, Rose and James, brothers Keiji and Takahiko, sister Noriko, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A celebration of life service will be held at Los Angeles Holiness Church at 11 am on March 31st.
