Obituary

SUGITA, CHIYOKO, 88, born on April 13, 1919 in Brawley (Imperial Valley) CA to Masataro and Yachiyo Hayashi, she was the 3rd child of 2 brothers and 1 sister. Chiyoko grew up in the San Diego County area and later was married to Tadao "Tad" Sugita for 64 years. During WWII, the family was interned in Poston, AZ. After the war, they went back to Vista for about 5 years and then moved to Torrance which is now Carson in the early 1950's. She was a very dedicated member of the Gardena Buddhist Church Matron Group for 50 years.
Services will be held on Monday, May 21, 10:30AM at the Gardena Buddhist Church, 1517 West 166th St.., Gardena, under the direction of Fukui Mortuary.

She is survived by her sons, Hajime "Jim" (Chris) and Eddie (Hisako) Sugita; daughter, Jeanne (Mike) Yamanaka; grandchildren, Erin Yamanaka, Caryn Sugita, Alysen Sugita, Byron Yamanaka and Camryn Sugita; brother, Tadashi Hayashi of Chula Vista; sister, Kozuye Wakimoto of Las Vegas; pre-deceased by brother, Kazuma Hayashi; brothers-in-law, Atsumi (Matsu) and John (Harriet) Sugita; sisters-in-law, Miyoko Murata, Machi Sugita and Hideko (Jimmy) Niiro and many nephews and nieces.
