It is with great sadness that the family of Brent Mitsuuchi announces his sudden passing on June 20, 2019, at the age of 47.

Born in Los Angeles, CA, Brent grew up in Rosemead, CA and moved to Gardena, CA with his wife Haruko.  Brent and Haruko were married for 16 years, and raised their two children, Drew and Mina.

Brent will be forever known to many as "Uncle Brent" or "Coach Brent".  No matter who you were, whether on the court or off, he would always be willing to lend a helping hand or teach you something about basketball.  His love of basketball started when he was 7 years old, playing in the Montebello Jets/Jetts organization, Schurr High School and as an adult in NAU, OCSA and others.  His passion for basketball did not end there as he pursued coaching.  Diamond Bar High, Jets Eagles, his niece and nephew's teams, and his son's team were some of the teams who benefited from his talents.

He will be forever remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Haruko, and his children, Drew and Mina; his mother, Patricia; his mother-in-law Fumiko Uchida; his siblings, Jon, Rodny (Stephanie), Todd (Alesia), Sharon (Daniel) Hanabusa; his sister-in-law Takako (Wilkin) Lee; and his nieces and nephews:  Nicole, Timothy, Kyle, Kory, Sarah, Tyler, Meghan, Josiah, Mikayla, Shauna.  He is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He is predeceased by his father, John Seiki Mitsuuchi.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 12, 3:00 p.m. at Nova Community Church, 4345 Emerald St., Torrance 90503 beginning with a service and followed by a reception.  In remembrance of Brent, please dress casual, or in your basketball jersey if you'd like.
