Betty was born on July 28, 1931 in Pepeekeo, Hawaii, the fifth of nine children.  Growing up, she loved singing, and sang locally at night clubs and on the radio.  She also used her singing talent to win a few beauty pageants.  She received her nursing license in 1955.  Her childhood neighbor, and eventually boyfriend, was Larry Oshiro whom she married in 1954.  They moved from Hawaii to California in 1956, settling in Paramount, CA, where they raised their 3 children.  Betty's favorite color was red and she loved wearing plumerias in her hair.  She worked as an instructional aide at Lincoln Elementary School for 25 years, and it was there that she joined Abe's Babes, a singing group comprised of student's mothers.  They performed locally for different events and she loved every minute of it!  Betty & Larry loved ballroom dancing and traveling the world.  Betty was involved in hula, ukulele and karaoke clubs.  She was also a member of the Norwalk Nikkei Seniors Club and Da Kine Hawaiian Club of Cerritos.  Betty had a happy, joyful spirit and always had a song in her heart & a smile for everyone. She will truly be missed.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry M. Oshiro, she is survived by her children, BrendaLou (Kenneth) Harada, Eric (Lori) Oshiro, CherylAnn (Alan) Kamikubo; grandchildren, Matthew and Michelle Harada, Ryan and Steven Oshiro, all of California; siblings, Irene (Henry) Yamashita, Jeanne (Francis) Yamada, Herbert (Lana) Oshiro, all of Hawaii; also survived by many relatives, extended family members & friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held once the stay-at-home mandate has been lifted.  Once a date has been determined, it will be posted on this website.
