Betty Emiko Mikuni, 91-year-old, Los Angeles-born Sansei and Pasadena resident for 70 years, passed away on June 5, 2024.  She was married for 62 years to her beloved husband, Willie Mikuni, who predeceased her in 2016.  She and Willie were the first in their families to graduate from college.  They both enjoyed serving at Pasadena Union Presbyterian Church and the successor church, First Presbyterian Church, Altadena.  Betty was actively involved in the church's meal delivery program, Caring Cooks, and hosted weekly Bible studies at their home.  They owned a drug store in Pasadena, Martin Drugs, for over 24 years.  Betty was unfailingly supportive of her kids and their families.  Her positivity and sense of humor will be missed.

Betty is survived by her children Darryl (Pat Van Der Veer), Janis (Duane) Nambu and Karen (Ethan Etnyre); grandchildren Christopher Mikuni, Jenni (Andrew) Kuga, Reine Nakamura, Quin Etnyre; great-grandchildren Akemi, Naoki and Mayumi Kuga; siblings Mary Jane Yasuko Tashiro, Evelyn Akiko Shimada, Phyllis Keiko Kim, Susan Tomiko Yamato and Sharon Teruko Yamato; also survived by many other relatives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 27th at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church, Altadena, 2775 Lincoln Avenue, Altadena, CA  91001.
