Funeral service for the late Betty Ayako Matsui-Kinoshita, 84-year-old resident of Torrance (Montebello), who passed away on Aug. 23, 2011, of heart failure, will be held on Saturday, September 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Fukui Mortuary "Chapel in the Garden", 707 E. Temple St., Los Angeles. Rinban Noriaki Ito of Higashi Honganji Los Angeles headquarters will officiate.
Betty worked at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center after retiring from UCLA Extension. She worked as a seamstress before working at UCLA.
She is survived by her children, Gail Matsui, Debra (Alex) Padilla and Ronald Matsui; grandchildren, Jennifer Richards (Eric Holland),Peter, Jayme and Gregory (Melissa) Padilla and great-grandson Jeloni Franklin.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Kay and Jay Kinoshita, and sisters, Alice Kataoka, Eiko Onaga, Kiyo Keefe and granddaughter Janeen Padilla. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
