Betty Kurakake passed away peacefully on July 18 a few days after her 96th birthday.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Melvin Kurakake.
Betty was born into the Shiroishi Family of 8 children in Long Beach, CA.
At the outbreak of WW11, the family was moved to Santa Anita and later to Jerome Relocation Center in Arkansas. She graduated from high school in the camp.
She clerked for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She worked for United Airlines and retired with free tickets to where ever United flew.
Betty enjoyed golf and creative pursuits, she was a talented artist, crafter, seamstress, and designer.
She leaves behind children Nancy (Ted) Meeker and Richard (Sharon) Sato.
Grandchildren Christian, Summer, Derek, Daniel, and Matther, and 4 great-grandchildren
Betty will be interred with her husband at Punchbowl Cemetary in Oahu, Hawaii.
She will be deeply missed.
