Betty Kisae (Azuma) Asahino, age 84 of Laguna Woods, California, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on July 4th, 2012. She was born in Halawa, Hawaii on March 13, 1928, the third child to parents Robert and Chiyo Azuma. Betty graduated from Kohala High School in 1948. She was married to Hutao Hinokawa for 18 years, until he passed away in 1965 from cancer. She later re-married, to Thomas Asahino. Over the years, Betty worked for Occidental Life Insurance Company, the Irvine Company, and a Newport Beach law firm. She retired in 1993 in Aliso Viejo; and moved to Laguna Woods in 2007.

Betty is survived by her husband of 44 years, Thomas Asahino; daughters Denise Beardshear, Joyce Noel and Joanne Harper; grandchildren Tim, Kristi, Collette, Becky, Peter, Colin, Adam, Derek, Alyssa and Nikki.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, are brother Mikio Azuma, and sisters Mabel Tam and Anna Shimabukuro. Betty is also survived by brothers Tsugio Azuma and Gary Azuma; sisters Barbara Tadaki and Aileen Setoda; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives in Hawaii, California, Las Vegas and Arizona.
Betty will be remembered for her laughter, her kind and giving heart, sense of humor and great cooking. She will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, July 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, 3800 S. Fairview St., Santa Ana CA 92704.
