Obituary
A service in remembrance of the late Mrs. Betty Takako Akiyama, an 81-year-old, Burbank California-born resident of Irvine, former Manzanar Relocation Camp internee who passed away on January 19, 2011, will be held on February 12, 2011 at 1:30 PM at the Orange County Buddhist Church, 909 S. Dale Ave., Anaheim, CA 92804. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the charity of your choice.
In 1952, she married Shizuo Akiyama, moved to San Diego, became a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother. Her husband, Ses, predeceased her in 1998; her son, Steve, predeceased her in November 2010. Mrs. Akiyama is survived by her daughter, Susan (Stan) Yoshihara, and grandsons Duston and Jarod. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Joan, and granddaughters Kristin and Kariann.
