Ben Matsumura, M.D.
(February 16, 1930–August 16, 2015)

A graveside service for Ben Matsumura was held on August 22 at Rose Hills Memorial Park. He was born in the small town of Esparto in Northern California to Tokino and Yasumatsu Matsumura. He was the third of four children. During World War II, the family was interned at Heart Mountain, Wyoming. He served in the US Army during the Korean War for three years. Later he graduated from Pacific Union College and went on to earn a medical degree from Loma Linda University, after which he practiced medicine in Southern California. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Jim and Joe Matsumura. Surviving him are his daughter, Adrienne; his sister, Ruth (husband Ichiro); and many nieces and nephews. He also left behind dear friend Bonnie Smilden and her son, Matthew. He is lovingly remembered by his family and many friends for his compassion, thoughtfulness, and generosity. He will be missed forever.
