Nobuichi Shimidzu and Yoshiko Hagiwara Shimidzu. His father served in the US
Army and became a US citizen but he died when Asaichi was 2. His mother
remarried George Yoichi Hieshima and together they raised Asaichi who became an
honor student, Eagle Scout and a boyfriend and future husband to the very bright
and beautiful Yoshi Alice Miyazaki. After his honorable discharge from the US Army
he joined our family in the relocation camp. He returned to his studies and
graduated from Tulane Medical School in 1949.
As a trilingual family practice physician he served his community with his skills as a
doctor and his kindness and consideration as a friend and leader. He loved his
family and friends and was a role model for all to admire. He was a remarkable man
with a devoted wife and family. His love was returned many times over by his
family friends and patients.
He once expressed his desire to live to be 100 and he almost made it. His passing
was preceded by that of his wife of 69 years and of his second son Alan. Although he
missed his wife and son he enjoyed his life and was grateful for his time spent with
his family and friends. We will miss him very much and we will forever be grateful
for our time spent as part of his loved ones. Asaichi died in the hospital after a brief
illness on January lOth. He is survived by children and spouses Grant and Donna
Hieshima, Georgia and Hiroshi Ueha, Adele and Isaac Inouye and Eric Hieshima. He
was also blessed with grandchildren Glenn Michael and Brenton and great
grandchildren Kalina Makala Kailea and Hana.
Asaichi was placed next to his wife as per their wishes at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
