Ansho Masaru Uchima, 93, Fresno, California born Nisei, and resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on September 3, 2016. He is predeceased by his wife Tadayo in 2007. He is survived by his son Ray (Estela), granddaughter Stephanie Uchima-Carney (Mike), great grandson Chase Carney and many other relatives.

Ansho served honorably in the Korean War and was awarded a Bronze Star. He authored 3 books: Fighting Spirit: Judo in Southern California, Seinan: Southwest L.A., and Nikkei General and Admirals.

Private funeral service was held at Green Hills Memorial Park.
