Akio was born on Oct 22nd 1972 in Aichi, Japan.  His father: Koichiro, and Mother: Rikako Usuda.  He has a younger sister, Yasuyo.  Akio attended the University of Hawaii and graduated with a Chemistry Major.  Later he worked as a Chemical Safety / Project Manager.  He met his wife, Emi in Japan one year when he returned home to renew his Visa in 2005. They got married in 2006.  Emi then came over to the US to join Akio, and they started their life together in Hollywood.

Meeting Emi added joy to his life, which was further expanded with the addition of Hina and Kana, who were his pride and joy.  Hina was born in 2007, and Kana was born in 2011.  When Hina was born, Akio couldn't stop recording every step of her birth moment.  One point a nurse told him that he needed to step out, so they can do their jobs, but he just kept rolling his camera.  Kana showed a strong case of jaundice.  She was admitted back in the hospital, and Akio was so worried about Kana.

Akio was a loving father who spent his free time with his daughters practicing softball.  Akio played baseball growing up in Japan, so it was natural for Akio wishing Hina and Kana to play softball.  You could always find him on the softball field with Hina and Kana.  He loved to watch his girls play softball and dedicated his time to coach girls' teams whenever he could.  He was loved among the softball community.

He was always active with variety of sports, he loved playing baseball himself also, so he joined local adult baseball teams.  He was always smiling, making jokes, and had a very laid-back personality.  He carried the aloha spirit wherever he went with his joyful disposition, love of poke, BBQ, Dodgers and watching softball.
