Akino Kanegae, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home on
May 21, 2007.
For many years, Akino worked, first on the Kanegae family farm, then as
office manager and bookkeeper for Bolsa Packing Company; American Foods,
Kern Foods, and Calberi, Inc.
She was an active member of the Orange County Matrons and participated
with her husband in the Orange County and National JACL. A member of
Wintersburg Presbyterian Church, she actively participated in church
activities until she was unable.
Her favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren,
especially watching them as they participated in basketball and other
activities. She loved going to Disneyland, and thoroughly enjoyed
traveling with her husband.
She is survived by her children: Ellen (George) Agcaoili; Marilyn
(Ronald) Izumita; Marjory (Ronald) Nakamura; and Dr. Thomas Kanegae;
grandchildren: Suzanne Agcaoili; Alison Izumita; Kristina Izumita; Tiana
(Kent Mark) Izumita; Tod Kanegae; Courtney (Matt) Duke; Molly
Serizawa-Kanegae; Lori (Ted) Hirano; David (Rose) Nakamura;
great-grandchildren: Campbell Duke; Christopher and Lauren Hirano;
Kelsey, Kyle and Olivia Nakamura; sisters: Yukino Eto; Sumi Inamasu;
brothers: Toody (George) Yukihiro and Bill (Shige) Yukihiro;
sisters-in-Law, Mary Yamami and Toshiko Yukihiro; and many relatives.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Henry; sisters Masayo Omoto; Matsue Mori; brothers Mac Yukihiro and Henry Yukihiro.
She will be fondly remembered for her love, generosity, kindness, and
friendship, and dearly missed by all her family and friends.
Public viewing to be held on Friday, June 1, from 6:30-8:30PM, at Fukui Mortuary "Chapel in the Garden", 707 East Temple Street, Los Angeles, California.
Funeral services will be held at Wintersburg Presbyterian Church, 2000 N. Fairview
Street, Santa Ana, California on Saturday, June 2 at 10:00AM with burial
services following at Westminister Memorial Park.
