Obituary
Akiko Jeanette Nishikawa, 65, passed away peacefully on August 28th. Beloved mother of Michael Kenji (Helen) Nishikawa and Noelle
Akemi (Evan) Shahin; grandmother of Melani Reiko and Byron Kaneo Shahin;sister of Tsugio K. Okita;
also survived by her former spouse,Kenneth K. Nishikawa, and
many other relatives. Jeanette dedicated 27 years to Disabled Resources Center in Long Beach, California where she served as Executive Director since 1993. She
has been a faithful community leader serving on many boards and
commissions. She was honored in 2003 as the 54th District California State Assembly Woman of the Year. In liue of flowers, the family has requested that a donation to be made to Disabled Resources Center. Private burial will be held on Saturday, September 1st at Evergreen Cemetery.
