U.S. VeteranFuneral services for the late Mr. Jack Yasuyuki Yamashiro, an 81-year-old, Brentwood, California-born Kibei-Nisei resident of Villa Park, CA and an Armed Forces veteran who honorably served his country in the US Army and who passed away October 18, 2011 will be held on Sunday November 6, 2011, 3:00 PM at Orange County Buddhist Church, 909 S. Dale Ave., Anaheim, CA 92804, officiated by Rev. Marvin Harada.



Born in Brentwood, California (Contra Costa County) Jack was a Kibei-Nisei educated in Hiroshima, Japan.


During WWII Jack was working at a munitions factory in Hiroshima when the city was devastated by the atomic bomb. Jack was knocked unconscious by the blast. Tragically Jack’s father was killed.



In 1948 Jack’s family moved back to the United States of America and settled in Los Angeles, CA.



After serving in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, Jack attended Los Angeles City College while working at Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, CA where he was granted a scholarship to University of Southern California.



In 1958, Jack received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from USC and also met and married Agnes Kadomoto. They started out their life in Los Angeles where they had two daughters, Sandra and Vivian. In 1964, Hughes transferred Jack to Japan and he moved his family to Tokyo where they lived for three years, returning to Villa Park, CA in 1968.



Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Agnes Yamashiro; daughters, Sandra (Chuck) Kosin and Vivian (Lawrence) Mui; grandchildren, Margo, Christopher and Alicia Kosin and Vincent and Jason Mui; sister, Mary Mita. Also survived by many other relatives in California, Texas and Japan.
